In House Employment and Sport barrister
Keystone Law is recruiting for a part time in house barrister to join our highly respected and fast growing Employment Law team reporting directly to one of our busy, highly regarded, senior lawyers.
The role is mainly home based, with flexible hours.
The role requires at least 2+ year’s experience in UK employment/litigation law together with a strong academic record.
Ideally you will also have spent some time at a leading or highly rated employment law set and have experience of dealing with high value cases and of working with senior barristers/QC’s.
The successful candidate will be practical, commercial, confident, hard working; highly professional and a collaborative team player.
The role will suit a bright and confident individual with a solid experience and background in employment law and litigation.
The successful candidate will mainly assist the senior lawyer working on a mixture of complex, high value and high-profile employment work, sports litigation and discrimination work on behalf of Senior Executives.
There will be significant direct client contact from the off and a great opportunity to enhance both your skills and reputation.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
• Directly supporting a senior lawyer with over 25 years’ experience in the field
• Attending the employment tribunal/High Court (limited advocacy required)
• Drafting letters, documents and applications
• Taking statements
• Liaising with clients/court/third parties and attending client meetings
• Working on case strategy and litigation tactics.
We work outside the usual hierarchical structure of a traditional law firm. The role may prove ideal for a candidate who seeks job flexibility and work life balance or who has other responsibilities or a separate part time role.
Our team also comprises paralegals and admin/support colleagues to ensure an enviable work/life balance for all. We believe that with happy lawyers we are able to deliver a higher quality of service for our clients.
Hours can be flexible with a significant working from home element.
The monthly retainer will be commensurate with experience and at a competitive rate, initially based on 30-40 hours work per month, with an opportunity for a periodic bonus too.
The initial term will be for three months but the aim is for the engagement to become a longer term appointment.
There is also the opportunity down the line to work for other Keystone lawyers.
